Good Morning!
I have now finalised my plans for Saturday 3rd September. Brian G6AUR & myself will aim to be on site and ready by 9.00am.
My primary site will be Win Green, near Shaftesbury, IO80WX, 268m asl, 169km from Brown Clee Hill. I have not used this site before, so in case of problems, I have two secondary sites;
Salisbury Plain near Chitterne, IO91AE, 161m asl, 149km from Brown Clee Hill (I know this site well and it should be OK as long as another contest group doesn't get there first!)
Gare Hill near Maiden Bradley, IO81UD, 245m asl, 149km from Brown Clee Hill.
I will have 146.5 & 437MHz ATV, any symbol rate.
The latest weather forecast shows rain in the afternoon, so lets hope we can do the business in the morning!

Good luck everyone!

Shaun.

Hi All

On Saturday 3 September, I have decided to go to Bulbarrow Hill IO80UU24XP, 265m ASL, a few miles further South than Win Green, near Shaftesbury.

My secondary site will be Povington Hill https://wiki.batc.tv/Lulworth_Ranges_-_Povington_Hill IO80PU near the South coast.

I will have 146.5, 437 and 10367 RB-TV, and might also be able to do 2MS DATV on 437 if anybody wants it. Primary talkback 144.75 FM, secondary DXSpot.TV and 144.17 SSB.

I will also be active on 10/11 September. Site tbd.

Saturday 3 September 2016 - Activity Summary

Post by G8GKQ » Thu Sep 01, 2016 3:46 pm

Prompted by Noel's DXpedition to the North (!), there is a lot of ATV activity planned for Saturday 3 September starting from 0900 and lasting for much of the day. The following stations have announced their intentions:

G8GTZ/P Brown Clee IO82QL: 146, 437 and 10 GHz RB-TV and DATV

G8VPG/P Win Green IO80WX: 146 and 437 RB-TV and DATV
Alternative sites Salisbury Plain IO91AE and Gare Hill near Maiden Bradley, IO81UD

G4EWJ/P Winter Hill IO83RO: 146, 437 RX only and 10 GHz DATV RX with Analogue TX

G8GKQ/P Bulbarrow Hill IO80UU: 146, 437 and 10 GHz RB-TV, DATV and Analogue

G8DKC Active from home IO92IQ

M0DTS Active from home IO94IL

More information in the 10/11 September topic, but I thought the day deserved its own topic! Talkback primarily on 144.75, but watch DXSpot.tv as well.

Please add your details here if you plan to be active.

Looking carefully at the weather forecast for tomorrow, which is not good. High probability of rain by 10.00am and for the rest of the day for both Shaftesbury & Clee Hill. As I operate out of the back of an estate car, this is not feasible in the rain.

The latest forecast shows no rain for Shaftesbury until midday, so I'm going to give it a go. The plan is to pack up today, leave home 7.00am, be on site by 8.00am and hopefully ready for operation by 9.00am or very shortly after. Brian & I will operate for 2-3 hours and pack up before the rain arrives. This will be the plan unless there is a major deterioration in the forecast.
73 Shaun.

The weather's looking pretty bad up this way, so I'll be on from home instead.

Thanks to all an interesting day out, I could hear odd weak signals from the south,
but Noel's running commentary kept me in touch with goings on.

As I was only 55 miles 88.5 Km from Noel, with good 437 and 146.5 from him, and no sign of obvious records.
But it turned out that due to my config file settings I was only running 1.5Watts to the 3ell Yagi on 437,
so best I've done on low power :D
A picture included of Noels Received signal from me, also picture via GV and 146 at Home.

Thanks to everyone for making this another successful DXpedition.

The highlight of the day was working G8GTZ/P 2-way at 182 km on 146 MHz. The lowlight was finding that I hadn't plugged the transmit feeder in when I tried to work G0UHY on 70 cms. Sorry! Luckily I had a circulator on the PA output and a very hot, but still functioning, dummy load on the reflected port.

Best picture award goes to Colin G4KLB. And yes, that mast does fit inside the Toyota Yaris!

Look forward to seeing most of you again during next weekend's activity!

Thanks again
