Hi Mark,
The amateur band currently goes up to 3475 but there is no actual ATV allocation - see http://thersgb.org/services/bandplans/#23 - so nothing stopping you using 3450 with due regard to the notes about PU interference.
HOWEVER - as you are probably aware the 3.4 GHz band was also part of the PSSR release which will come in to force on 7th April 2015: http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consul ... ment-apr14
There is also a forum thread regarding the PSSR release mainly focusing on 2.3 GHz here - http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3176
The good news is that although the 3.4 GHz band will be reduced to 10 MHz after April 2015 there are no other amateur interests apart from NB at 3400.2 and the BATC / ETCC has negotiated with RSGB that 3402 - 3410 will be allocated for DATV operation using 2 Msymbol, 2 MHz channels. To this end we all ready have 3 repeaters licensed for operation between 3404 - 3408.
If there is interest in simplex operation, we adopt 3403 as the centre frequency - this would allow 2MHz operation without interference to repeaters and the narrow band users.
I've recently modified a couple of airspan units for use with the DTX1 driving at 800MHz and they produce over 100 milliwatts very easily

oh ok, so as yet we haven't lost any part of the band. I was just asking to see if it was ok to actually transmit for small periods of time to test the units etc.
Ok on the 800Mhz drive. I have modified mine as to rob's info on his web page. so I can drive at 1280MHz using an MFJ TX.
I just have to get a couple of the pic chips and get them programmed to drive the PLL. oh and add a 4MHz clock to the PLL.
But I didn't want to transmit if we had infact already lost the band. the RSGB band plan is somewhat confusing quoting 2006 and 2013 etc.
I don't have a Digital TX system only RX for GB3UD and Analogue TX.
Anyway thanks for clarifying I should be able to get away with txing with one and rxing with the other without fear of losing my licence.

OK - sounds like you'll be OK.
I used a 16 MHz osc and after much effort worked out how to program a PIC etc...
BTW - the easy way to do rx is to use a C Band LNB. We did stock some in the shop but sold out and haven't seen any at a good price on ebay recently.

oh yeah, you just reminded me Noel, I bought one of these last year, not used it at all yet!
It says 3.7 But Im hoping it may go lower will have to see was only £3 off ebay so not too bad.
Either way I will hook it up and see what I can receive with it.
