In the absence of any better venues being offered, we have decided to go back to the Everest Academy in Basingstoke for CAT14 which will be held over the weekend of September 6th and 7th 2014 with the BATC General Meeting 2014 will be held on the Sunday.

More details to follow, but put the date in your diary now and we look forward to seeing you all there.

I think the chosen date clashes with 33rd Annual 2014 ARRL/TAPR DCC as yet we do not know who will be streaming, but BATC could lose live viewers either way.
Also as this is probably going to be perhaps the most important BGM in many years with the highest level of decission making this meeting commands needed to ratify or overturn what has happened in the last 12 months
should we not stick to the normal formula of the middle of the country and avoid any bias from the south where the current BATC committee and their supporters reside

Hi Trevor,

Re the date, it's very difficult not to clash with something and we didn't know about TAPR DCC dates when we chose Sept 6/7th and I see it as less of an issue than clashing with TV contests, Hamfest or the RSGB convention all of which happen at that time of year.

Re location - experience over the last 2 years has shown it's a lot easier to organise the event when there is a local group willing to help with the onsite organisation.

Straight after CAT13 at Finningley we put out an appeal for local groups to help find a suitable venue ( see http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=3655) particularly in the Birmingham area. Unfortunately no one came up with a venue, although we did we look at Hack Green near Stoke (see http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=3736 for details) but this was not really suitable, and we declared our intention to go back to the Everest Academy as feedback we got from the registered visitors in 2012 was very positive. With no adverse comments received we went ahead and booked the venue.

However, we did get a lot of positive feedback from the registered visitors about CAT13 at Finningley and so it is proposed that BATC go back "up North" to Finningley for CAT15.
