DTX1 amplifier?

Would appreciate some recommendations for an RF amplifier for the DTX1 for 1.2 GHz. Like to move the -5db to +20 or higher.

Thanks,

Hi Stefan,

The PGA 103 amplifier published in the last CQ-TV is ideal as a first stage driver with performance as shown below and you could possibly use 2 stages with careful gain balancing.

However, in the next edition of CQ-TV (publication date December) there will be an article on a PA stage which has been designed to be driven by the PGA 103 and gives 2.5 watts when used for narrow band operation - DATV operation has not yet been fully evaluated but should be similar. We are looking at the potential of stocking the PCB and or components / kits in the BATC shop.

Minikits in Australia also have a number of kits / amplifiers which can be used with the DTX1 / Digilite.

Would be interested in a PGA 103 amplifier kit/board if that is what the club is looking to stock. Anything that can get a useful starting power from the milliwatt level would be good without having to incur postage/customs costs from the states or Oz.

Have had some success with the g4ddk board but it is a bit on the fragile side.

Thanks!

Good info and I enjoyed reading the article in the CQ-TV. I ordered the Minikit amp. I am also looking at their transverters to get the signal up to 2.4Ghz. We will see how that goes.

Yes looking forward to getting some "real" power out again, via the Digilite I had no problem with use of G4DDK mini amp into my M68719, could drive that to 10w output easily, with same setup into DTX1 not getting more than 10mW, a massive drop, tried the PGA-103 amp kit from MIni Kits & another PGA-103 map from G4DDK in series, into M68719 & getting a huge 2w output, so still need to find another method.
