Hi,

Just a thought, if we can add SD card to DigiLite, how about on the DTX1.
As there are the 2nd encoder channel, Header pins looking back at us?

Or even a receiver...

Interesting! Presently the main board firmware detects our secondary encoder hardware, and sets it up accordingly. There is no reason why (with a firmware change) the header couldn't accept a third party transport stream. It's standard stuff. If there is sufficient interest in this idea we would like to hear about it! (No promises....)

Hi Laurence,

Ok on feasibility, if the software can do it, then it could be an add on in the future, with card slot at the back.

Going to miss the TS SD card I use on digiLite, so look forward to having option on this one.

Using a media centre box with DTX1 about a third of it's size, with usb drive or SD card holding video files.

Liked the plug and play, put on it's case, attached ae, plugged in the camera and watched pics across the shack.

I can vouch for 3 users interested in SD, see how the rest of community feel.

Same here, an option for SD slot would be ideal. especially when used portable for transmitting captures of test cards or even pre recorded RX shots.

We think maybe the thing to do is to permit users to feed anything they like into the secondary TS port, with option of ' we clock the stream at a rate set by the main board' or 'you clock it into us at a rate you determine', as menu options. Presently if the firmware can't find our card as an add-on it blocks the port.
Maybe someone could start a project off to feed a recorded TS into the connector - the pin-out is documented in the user guide. This does beg a question though about what to do about SI tables and the like. Would the main board still have to do all that stuff or would the SD card have the whole TS stream etc. coming out of it? All thoughts ideas and suggestions welcome!

Hi Laurence,

Do you mean on board header, the only pinouts I have is serial port.
Have read hard copy of pdf, could you explain further, all new ground to me?

Hi Peter

My mistake - the header pin-out isn't in the user guide. I'll sort out a pdf of it and make it available on the help site.

Hi Laurence,

Thank you for the talk on Saturday at Batc Cat13, and quick hello,

I hear that you and Brian G4EWJ, have had a chat about various possibilities with the SD Card,

I'm still learning the ropes, and my main priority is to get the most out of GB3GV with various inputs probably inc 10ghz.

Full time job at the moment.

So if others are interested in having an SD Card option on the DTX1, and or can help Laurence & Brian go forward please let them know.

As I'm busy I find the DTX1 ideal, a quick ref tool to plug in and go.

Definitely interested in the card reader plugin.
Interested in being able to feed an external transport stream in
Also like the idea of a HDMI input
