BPF 2m

Post by M0NDE » Thu Jan 08, 2026 6:04 pm

Is the QRP Labs 2m filter a good choice to put between the Portsdown Pluto and a suitable amplifier for 2m experimentation?

Thanks

Thanks John
I met the "Vic" in the bar at GQRP Convention.
I had also seen these videos prior to my question.
I guess I will have to order one and give it a go.

I'd just include one after the PA, there are some nice cheap amps that re-use MRF186 ('Linear PA' on Ali Express) devices and the PCB includes a filter and VSWR sensing, they go very well on 2m. There area also 70cms versions too and other amps that use a small brick PA and predriver that do 5W DATV on 70. Perfect for local use.
If you fancy a DIY then W6PQL has excellent filter designs for QRO on his website. https://www.w6pql.com/filter_+_coupler_+_detectors.htm
If you used 500V silver Mica caps (or better ATC ones) you would be fine on 2m power levels.

Thank you Gareth for the link. On my next pension day I will order one of these kits for 2m.
