MiniTiouner

Post by thedvbdreamer1 » Sat Sep 23, 2023 12:16 pm

Hallo members,

How do I activate the LNB of a mini tiouner.
It stays at (0) for me.
It's a MiniTiuoner Express

Best regards

Here is the manual https://www.datv-express.com/uploads/Us ... raft17.pdf - did you read it?

Do you mean the bias? The minintiouner Express does not have a bias chip, it simply puts the input voltage on the LNB. There is a jumper - see the manual for details. If it is still 0V with the jumper in place then it is likely the RFC in the tuner has burnt out. In that case, you can't power the LNB from it.

How should the LNB be positioned?!
try to receive the beacon from AsHail, but it doesn't work.

Take a look at the Wiki, getting started.

I have no idea where you are, or even if you have coverage of QO100, or a large enough dish. It has to be 90cm or more. If you don't have volts on the then LNB it won't work. If you only have 12V, then the polarisation will be wrong and you need to rotate the LNB by 90 degrees. It goes without saying, but I will say it anyway, you need the correct type of PLL LNB. An old DRO based one won't work. The Bullseye one is great.

The beacon isn't always sending good video, don't worry if it seems odd, just peak the MER reading. If you do have a large enough dish and are within the QO100 footprint, it is practically impossible to align a dish without some form of spectrum analyser or SDR plot. With the LNB in its normal position and 12V the narrow band transponder can be detected with a receiver.

If you are in the UK or Europe, then you can align on the Sky TV satellite at 28.8E with a satellite finder. Es-Hail is at 26E and you just have to move the dish round to the south a couple of degrees to get close.

Holland is my home country.
With the Promax Prodig I looked up 26 degrees East and scanned with a TBS5927 and SmartDVB. With a Gregorian 90 cm dish indoors behind the window with an Inverto ultra black as LNB

Unlikely to work indoors. Not heard of that LNB but I don't think it will work. It doesn't appear to be a PLL type.

I go to the QO-100/Es`Hail website.
Look which amateur is on it,
I enter that at the top left. Press search in a field on the right, but not much happens.
The 3 lights at the bottom do not turn green.
Shit happens

As I said, you need a PLL LNB. The Bullseye is good. Also using a dish indoors is unlikely to work because modern windows have a thin metallic coating for heat retention that blocks the signal.

I also don't understand your method of tuning as there is no place to enter a callsign. You need to set the frequency and symbol rate, the type of signal and which connection on the tuner you have connected to.

I suggest you have a look at that link with the manual.
