Ordering Components

Post by Kevin_G7UXW » Tue Jan 15, 2019 7:46 pm

I'm struggling to order components. Digi-Key want obscene money for shipping. BOM's in the wiki which seem to be very few wont load to Farnell and they want minimum order, I'm only building one Portsdown not 10.
So where do I go and what do I do

Hi Kevin

As I recall, DigiKey shipping is free once you get over £33. They always seem to work out quickest and cheapest for me.

Agreed, the order becomes a bargain once you hit that order threshold. I bought some extras as their gear is at least quality.

@sv1coa

The latest issue of CQ-TV has a number of articles on the equipment and power required to transmit DATV into Es'hail-2. You can sign up for membership here https://batc.org.uk/join-the-batc/, which would give you access to all the recent articles about transmitting and receiving DATV with the satellite.

The short answer to your question is 30W into a 1.2m dish.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to know something: is it possible to catch broadcasts from Belgium, and to order components there? If needed, I can go to the UK for a couple days to gather the kit at a PO box or something similar. I'm in Russia right now, but I'll soon be back home where it'll be easier to organise all of that!

I am not sure this is the place for discussing getting around US export restrictions.

I don't want to get around US export restrictions, I want to know if I can order the components in my main living address in Belgium. I'm only in Russia for two weeks because of professional reasons.

That would be logical. Just register an account with Digikey and don't look back.
