23cm antennas to work repeaters

Beginner's question about working 23cm DATV repeaters (e.g. GB3SQ, GB3PV, GB3ZZ) with a setup like this ... http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... 811#p13811
With the repeater input on 1249MHz and the output as high as 1316MHz, is it feasible to use just one antenna switched between TX and RX? Or are two antennas needed, tuned to the different frequencies?
Or do people usually work crossband - 70cm in, 23cm out?
Many thanks and 73
