PicoTuner unrecognised by Portsdown

Post by G8DGN » Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:14 pm

I'm using the w5500 RPI pico module with ethernet.
When booting, both LED1 and LED2 blink "hi", so I believe I have the right firmware for the module.

stty -F /dev/ttyACM0 1200 does make the virtual disk available.

Running stty -F /dev/ttyPT0 raw -echo & cat /dev/ttyACM0 (which is my device name) I get:
==============================================================================================================================================

PICOTUNER (WH mode) Version=ptwh0v3e-w5100s.uf2 RunTime=731s BasePort=9900 MAC=28:CD:C1:85:9D:2B IP=192.168.0.80 DHCP=Success
==============================================================================================================================================
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last command (0): [to@wh] rcv=2 fplug=a offset=9750000 freq=10491500 srate=1500
RX STATUS CALLSIGN MER D FREQUENCY SR MODULATION FPRO CODECS ANT PACKETS %NUL NIMTYPE TS DESTINATION

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nevertheless, the Portsdown (that works well with a Pluto), does not recognise that a tuner is connected.

Any ideas?

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure that Winterhill in any variety does not work on/with a Portsdown....try a USB version of the firmware in the RPI2040.......

@radiogareth
Ah that's interesting. I shall have to re-read all the documentation!

Thanks,
John

Run Opentuner on a Windows PC and then select winterhill and source settings. Then the box to show the PicotunerWH info (lower left of new box). That gives you the IP address of the tuner to set up Opentuner software.

Hope that helps

Thank you for the info. Seems I made an inaccurate assumption about the pico module. Have orders the correct one now, - hopefully.

The W5100S-EVB-Pico and W5500-EVB-Pico modules will both work with either G4EML's USB software or my Ethernet software loaded. There is also the W55RP20-EVB-Pico module, which will need different software.

You say you have the W5500 Ethernet module version, but your screenshot says W5100S. It would complain and flash 'NO' on the LEDS if the wrong Ethernet software had been loaded.

Both USB and Ethernet software will work with OpenTuner 0.B. The USB software will work with Portsdown and the Ethernet software will work with the WinterHill utilities.
