MCR21, the 1953 OB unit currently undergoing restoration, is spending 2 weeks in July at the Amberley museum near Arundel in Sussex.

MCR21 is one of the "Chosen BBC objects" to mark the 100 anniversary of the BBC this year https://canvas-story.bbcrewind.co.uk/100objectsobtruck/

As such BATC thought it would be appropriate to put it "on the air" via QO100 during it's stay at Amberley.

The plan is that we will set up a QO100 station on Friday 15th July until Sunday 17th July using the BBC radio club call sign GX5BBC.

Whilst we are not allowed to "broadcast" content, we will be showing archive footage about MCR21 and also using one of the original MCR21 cameras (625 monochrome) whilst in QSO with stations on QO100.

We will be using the BATC streaming production system, which we have just updated to use OBS, but if someone has a suitable QO100 PA to produce say 50 watts from a Pluto / Lime drive level that they can lend us, please let us know.

We are also looking for volunteers, particularly if you are ex BBC and have a story or 2 to tell, to join us over the weekend - the museum looks like a very interesting place to visit and there will be plenty of opportunities to spend time exploring MCR21 and talking to the public about ATV and operating the QO100 station.

Please let us know if you are interested in supporting this unique opportunity.
