DATV on 70MHz.

Hi, my 2 applications for a 70MHz NOV appear to be still lost in the ether. Has anyone had any success ?

Yes, I have had permission for a long time now but I can't find anyone to work, even one way!

Sadly not, I sent my 2nd application off almost 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing back.
They could have had the decency to at least acknowledge the application even if they then intended
to kick it into the long grass.

Today I received an email from an OFCOM spectrum associate telling me I no longer needed a SRP
and to contact the RSGB instead. So at least they did receive my original application.

Today I received pics from Steve on 71.0MHz. Tomorrow we hope to work in the other direction.

Try beaming this way when you have time Arthur. I have been on the band since last October but nobody to work. I know I can work you on 2m so perhaps 4m will go.

We are just getting gear built for 71MHz. I have now got 10w into a vertical aerial but I hope to be able to put up a small horizontal beam soon.
I assume you are using horizontal polarization for 71MHz.

I have a 5 element horizontal beam. I am limited to 100W ERP which is about 10W to that antenna. It should be sufficient for the path between us.

Arthur G4CPE and I have completed the two-way on 4m; there had been a problem with my receive upconverter which is now resolved. Both of us have temporary vertical antennas and the tip of mine doesn't even reach gutter height.
We are using ex commercial converters originally 1GHz in and 70MHz out; these use a 930MHz oscillator. Arthur has tweaked and moved the 1GHz filter from input to output and our 71MHz input reads 01001000 KHz in Minitioune. Input is via an amplified 70MHz SAW filter.
After the weekend I will try the Portsdown/DATV Express transmitter combination which should work well.

Arthur G4CPE now has a 4m horizontal dipole on a rotator down the garden and my 3 element beam has just arrived. We were both wondering if anyone else apart from Mike G0MJW is ready to do 4m tests?
On Sunday morning I could be on one of the local hills for a test; either Dunstable Downs or Ivinghoe Beacon.
@Mike From this afternoon Arthur will be ready to test with you.
