I’m currently rebuilding the shack at my new location……I will only Be operating on 70cms DATV …hopefully with 100w plus to a 14 or 18 ele yagi

What talkback frequencies are in use now …I’ve got a 2m 9 ele horizontal yagi only about 20ft up currently but good take off into most of UK ….I’m guessing 144.750 for initial calls

Don’t really want to use zello or anything similar but appreciate needs must on some occasions

Usually 144.750 is the main frequency and almost everyone uses Vertical as far as I'm aware.
Occasionally people switch to a beam if conditions are poor, but that's often not good enough.

It's surprising how often you can work someone on 70cm DATV (on QSB peaks) when you cant work them on 2m FM!
Hence Zello... it's actually very good, and better to hear some activity than none at all.

When I'm portable I often hear weak but fully readable stations on 144.750 but rarely do they hear me, that's the urban noise factor...

Good luck on 70cm, hope you work you sometime soon :-)

Rob

Hi rob
Thanks for the reply
I do have a dual band 2/70 colinear by Diamond…..think it’s about 3m long …that may be good enough.

We may have a chance of working as a good take off here in your direction.

There's a reasonable chance we could work too Steve even if it needs some airplane assistance. I'm at JO01AI with 14ele on a 10m pump up and a 'good supply' of RF.
I don't leave the mast up but can raise with fairly short notice.
Colinear on the chimney at about 7m AGL, we could try FM or SSB but as Rob says, Zello works very well too.

Hi Gareth
Always willing to try …will message you when I’m set up…..70cms beacon in Kent is strong here ….so possibly a reasonable chance
