Activity Weekend 14/15 May 2022

Post by M0DTS » Tue May 10, 2022 9:04 pm

I plan to be out somewhere on the North Yorkshire Moors on Saturday 14th with 2m and 23cm DATV...
I'm working on 15th so won't be available then.

I may take 4m if there's going to be anyone on there?
There may even be a slight hint of tropo early on Saturday!

At the moment I'm planning on a local excursion on Saturday to test out my 10GHz capability. Not sure on the timings yet but I think it will probably use up my Saturday, although if there is any tropo I could set up the 2m beam Friday and get it raised early for a quick try Saturday morning. Probably have to be done by around 10.30AM to get to my 'next appointment'.
Around on Sunday from home, so 4/2/70/23 by arrangement although I still don't have much power on 4m or down-converter so it would have to be DVB-T. 2/70/23 can be either. Plenty of power available on 70cms.

Hello
I'm interested in going out IF I can get some RF out of a DATV transmitter tomorrow afternoon.
I didn't realise the Pluto gives only microwatts on 2 and 4. It doesn't drive my PA's. I ought to be able to get a P2020 with my Lime Mini up and running. Then the second factor is when is Dave G8GKQ going out.
I'll post tomorrow on progress

I plan to go to Thruxton Hill near Andover (IO91EE) on Saturday from 11am with 146 MHz, 10 GHz and 24 GHz to conduct specific tests with G8GTZ and G4XAT. I may also have 5.7 GHz DATV capability.

David - unfortunately the take-off to the North is not brilliant. I'm planning on much better sites for you in the Contest next month.

Talkback 144.75 MHz and Zello ATV South.

Other stations are available :-)

What bands are you planning to take David?

Currently, I'm only planning to take 5.6, 10 and 24 GHz but may be able to take something else if requested.

QTH will be IO91JH and T/B via Zello and 144.750 vertical

I will be about from home on the lower bands, 6m, 4m, 2m and 70cm - so chances are nobody else to work...but I have a many other projects to be getting on with.

Hello all

I've managed to set up the 71, 146 an 437 power amps to work brilliantly with the Portsdown Filter modulator and its 3 to 4mW using bespoke attenuators and SP5189Z driver amps. Each Mitsubishi module gets 30mW and nice output results around 20W. That took considerable number of hours. I was going to write that the Lime mini in the P2020 was broken but then I turned on the attenuator and we have lots of power on 71 and 437 needing attenuation and 9W out on 2m .
So family birthday party for our Tom 2E0TKH tonight means I'm really behind in packing the car.
It would be 2m and 4m as extra kit Noel. I'd take 70cm anyway to work home stations. Time to get my other son from the station....

I think I'll stay home and avoid getting stressed. The heavy lifting is quite something too. I've 2 to 3 hours of packing - not started, an hour's drive to Clee Hill and an hour's setting up.
Maybe make a schedule with G0MJW another time for that 4m DATV QSO? I'll guess that there will be practice activity in early June too. Sorry to disappoint.

Not a problem. When you work full time, weekends are precious and time to rest. I am not sure those who have retired still remember how little time they used to have, mostly because they find they have even less time now than when they were at work.

Thank you Mike for the kind comments.
I shall spend the day working on my and G8TA's DATV equipment. It would be great if the Wolverhampton club can enter the contest with its own gear in its centenary year. It'll be good to have two working portable tv stations in this region even if I have to build both of them!
Good luck to all the portable stations out today.
David
