70cms only activity day - November 7th
70cms only activity day - November 7th
There were several stations active on 70cms during this weekend and it was proposed that we should give the next activity day a focus on 70cms.
It is the day when the Dwingelo dish in the Netherlands will be receiving on 70cms. viewtopic.php?f=75&t=7622
70cms does go well from home as well as portable, so now is the time to get that PA working and fit that masthead pre-amp.
We look forward to working you all.

Re: 70cms only activity day - November 7th
Just giving a boost to this post to remind everyone that we have a 70cms only activity day on Sunday, November 7th which is just over 2 weeks away.
The Dutch will be active and there will an opportunity to be received by the 25mt dish at Dwingeloo!
Time to get that amplifier finished, the antenna up higher or the pre-amp installed!

Re: 70cms only activity day - November 7th
Just to confirm my plans for this Sunday's 70cms activity day.
I will be out at Walbury Hill IO91GI44 - on the track and not on the top of the hill but makes no difference on 70cms - hoping to arrive on-site around 9 am until around 4pm.
I am planning to take 146 (it is rapidly becoming a case of use it or lose it, hence the delay in issuing the NoV) - 100 watts eirp from a 4 ele beam.
On 70cms I will have a single 19 ele yagi with 120 watts.
Talkback will be on 144.750 FM vertical colinear and 4 ele horizontal beam.
Plus https://dxspot.batc.org.uk/ - you will need this if you want to work the Dutch Dwingelo group with their 25mt dish.
Note to use chat only window on your mobile when out /p - log in on the main dxspot page first - then open this page https://dxspot.batc.org.uk/chat/ - then you can close the main page and just use the chat only page.
Plus Zello ATV groups plus 07881914287
Please post your plans here if you are hoping to be active, on 70cms it is possible to receive real DX from home

Sunday I will be on 70cms from home in IO91RV with 180watts or so, maybe 23cms too.
South of here is not good but the Netherlands are fine.

I should be able to get on from home in between the many Sunday nets. Wired up a 100W (of DATV) amplifier for 70cm. Can probably do 2m if pressed.

I'll be on and 'pumped up' from JO01ai09kq Hayes Bromley Kent, 14 ele/50+ watts DVBS2 or DVB-T.
Will also set up for 2m but current arrangements won't allow for a quick switchover from 70cms/2m (leg it down the garden and change coax feed over).
Zello SE from around 9am or 145.750 vertical colinear.

Hoping to be on 70cm and also 2m from home most of the morning. Afternoon depends on how quickly I can diagnose and fix my Daughter's heating system in her new QTH I can manage around 70W of DVB-S2 on 70, somewhat less than that of DVB-T and the full 100W eirp on 2m. Talkback on 144.750 and Zello SE.

Re: 70cms only activity day - November 7th
Lots of RF floating around today, but none of mine made the journey into a picture elsewhere and neither did I see much more than the occasional flutter from several stations active.
Lots of success listened to though (mainly on Zellow SE), good DX to/from Rob up North using DVBS2 and DVB-T. Strange conditions, not that I'm an expert on those conditions. Full marks for Dave operating in what sounded like gale force winds and for Rob putting up his beam in a gale force wind.
