Low band + 5.6GHz July activity weekend

Post by g8gtz » Sun Jul 04, 2021 5:14 pm

Next weekend - 10 / 11th July is the Low band (51, 71 and 146?) activity plus an opportunity to put more points on the 6cms activity ladder.

To help others plan please post here if you are thinking of getting on the air on those bands over the weekend.

I'm currently thinking to go out within IO91 square with 50MHz and 5.6GHz. It's also the 24/47/76 GHz narrow band contest on Sunday so probably do TV on Saturday.

That's good because i booked a day off work on Saturday just in case...!

If there's an overall bias towards Saturday then I'll be out then too with 4m and hopefully 6m this time.
Location probably IO94JF.
I'm also free on Sunday too...

Hoping to be out with possibly 6m DVB-T TX/RX and 5.6 FM/5.7DATV. Can also take 70cms with 50W. Venue dependant - Rob I'll scout out some 347 degree take-offs from round my way as they launch straight over London so might be some hope.
More info nearer the time....

I will not be on for this event as it is the IARU HF contest which I will be doing from IO81KQ. Myndd Maen blocks all paths to the east so not worth attempting anything!

I plan to be active from Salisbury (Dean Hill IO91EA) with 146 MHz and 5.7 GHz on Saturday.

Probably early afternoon, but I can be there in the morning if that works better for other people.

I've got 80% chance of rain on Saturday until 3pm-ish. None of what I might take is waterproof so will probably stay home and try 4/2/70 with Martin G4FKK. I can send 50W 70cms along the corridor to GB3HV and can try to the north-west +/- should anyone be out that way on 70cms. I'm in JO01AI.
Miserable WX.....

Ok, Saturday it is then.

I'll be at IO94JF with 2m/6m/6cm ready to go from ~11am.

I'll also have 23cm and 4m but i'll have to swap antennas round on the mast to do them, maybe mid afternoon.

Just to confirm I will be out from the hill just by Junc7 on the M3 (IO91KF), which gives good take off to the North and also LoS to the Dean Hill.

Bands are 50 and 146 and 5.7GHz and should be on-site by 11.00 am

Talkback via 144.750 v and h and Zello - if I can remember how to use it.

I'll give it a shot to Dave and Noel on 2m (only 7 degrees difference between them), it might just work.
Since I'm operating from home, I can get the gear set up early and TX on demand.....
Mike, what's your locator please?
