Activity Weekend 15/16 May 2021

Post by G8GKQ » Mon May 10, 2021 7:39 pm

This coming weekend is the last BATC Activity Weekend before the IARU Contest in June.

I hope to be out portable (somewhere near Salisbury) on Sunday with 146 MHz and a few other bands to be decided. Anybody else going out?

Should be out and about, but with what exactly still TBC. (Testing RXs tomorrow). Could certainly try 2m DVB-T....IO91XH Woldingham Surrey. Possibly 3.4 and 5.6?

I'm hoping to be out in the Clee Hills and am looking for a site with take off and reduced radar field strength! Titterstone Clee Hill car park is really only good for testing filters
My friend has offered a good spot so we'll see if we can get a meeting sorted. I'll take pot luck with the weather! I'll try for a Sunday activation and post again if confirmed.

Because of a clash with the 24/47/76 GHz contest on Sunday, I will be out on Saturday with lower bands ATV (I will also have TV on the higher bands on Sunday).

I am hoping to test the new 70cms system which isn't built yet! But happy to take any bands that people want to try.

Location will probably be in the Basingstoke / Newbury area and probably in range of Gareth and Clee Hill (Lower down Titterson Clee is good to the south).

Talkback will be the normal modes.

Sunday is looking like a universal washout for the whole country :-(

hope this weather is not a trial run for June contest...

I'm still planning to be out portable but with all stations over 100km it maybe a struggle.
Saturday does now look like the better option...

Good thing is that there's lots of repeaters available from most of my portable sites now:
GB3EY,GB3YT,GB3VL from most sites, then there's GB3GG,GB3CT,GB3TT and GB3KM too if i choose more carefully.
More repeaters up here than ever before!

Hopefully I'll find someone on ;-)

I am no longer planning to be active from Winter Hill. I may come on from home but given the weather forecast it might be better to spend time on the construction of 10/6/4m DVBT capability.

Both days look really bad down here - I may venture out if it clears up...

Chatted to Gareth and agreed we should do a practice run in early June before the contest - will post on here when we agree plans.

Due to a number of factors, I am now unable to go out portable tomorrow Sunday 16 May.

Apologies to all those who were hoping to contact me.
