Low band contest - Sept 19th and 20th - input please
I was talking to G4FRE who mentioned this clashes with the 70MHz AFS contest next Sunday.
As it is likely there will only be a few of us out next weekend we probably don't need a full day, so how do we feel about focussing the activity on Saturday - the rules say Sat 1pm to Sunday 7pm local.
If you are thinking of being on air on 50 or 70MHz, what do you think?

Makes it more likely (assuming those who would be out can be out on the Saturday) for hookups. Not sure I can get both beams (4&6) up at the same time on my own though.
Suits me and I have 'booked' the weekend...

Fine by me for Saturday.
I'll have a good 4m setup and maybe something for 6m if i get round to it, possibly at IO94JF.

I’ve a 71 MHz system ready (6m delta loop and 4.2m cubical quad antennas too) that I think works on 6m receive. How do you make a 6m DATV signal anyway? I have the Mini-Kits amp that works on both.
But it's no good because I cannot take part on either day. We’re taking Peter to start his degree at Sheffield University so are away all weekend. This is a blow because there's unlikely to be another event for a year on these frequencies. I suppose I'll have to drive south for a scheduled QSO with one or more of you to see if it works on another weekend.
All the best to everyone who does take part

The tropo forecast looks interesting for Monday morning and thu/fri/sat so may help us out.

I might get out portable a couple of days this week as i'm off work, it will be an evening though as daytime is generally poor for tropo.

The weather looks good all week and I hope to be out on Saturday. I will have 4m only. I'm thinking about the Mendips which has been lucky for Rob and me before!

Thanks for the feedback - I think we will be a small group but looks like a few hours on Saturday suits all of us - sorry you cannot get out David.
I will probably go to Walbury Hill - IO91GI - and will have about 20 watts on 50 and 70MHz in to a Innovate Antennaes 6 ele beam https://www.innovantennas.com/en/shop-p ... ennas.html
Will also put up the 9 ele beam for Talkback so will have 146MHz RB-TV if anyone is interested.

OK, I'm confirming Saturday 19th only between 1pm and 7pm BST.
A trophy will be awarded to the station with most points for the combined bands.
Please use the usual Excel spreadsheet and enter your 50MHz contacts in the 2m section
Logs to contests@batc.tv as usual please.
I'll be on receive only on both bands if anyone wants to try East Yorkshire.
73 & good luck.

Hi All! I will be around at various times on Saturday from my home QTH in Kettering with a 5 element beam which has already worked well between me and Arthur G4CPE in Luton both ways so let's see who else I can work!
Re: Low band contest - Sept 19th and 20th - input please
Noel has reminded me that I have built the 4m/6m upconverter so I will listen around on 6m from IO74DP on Saturday.
While I have a 3 el Yagi for 6m, anything south of east from here has a hill in the way - but never say never.
And while I can do 400W on CW on 6m, I don't have any way of amplifying my Mk1 Portsdown, Lime or Pluto - yet. Perhaps a project for the winter - I'm open to suggestions.
Good luck in the contest guys
