I think I win the contest. I didn't see any other numbers and received a P5 001 report from Dave.

More seriously, with H265 it is possible to send much better quality pictures and the Portsdown, thanks to Dave's efforts, can now receive them. We send H264 to ensure everyone can receive it but who is it that can receive H264 but can't receive H265? I am aware older satellite receivers without HD capability can not, but to my knowledge these can't receive the 333ks signals either.

If there is a mixture of H.264/H.265 I won't bother posting the net to YouTube anymore as I would not be able to record the transport stream and then upload it to YouTube as YT can't cope with a mixed format stream.

Wouldn't passing it through ffmpeg first fix that?

No I tried that. What seems to happen is the first valid set of SI tables received are taken to be correct for the rest of the stream. The same applies with the sound.

I suspect some command line tools couls be written to parse the ts, correct the timestamps and sort the segments into formats but I don't have
the time or interest.

I am about to start coding some software for a brand new DATV-Express receive tuner unit so will be quite busy soon.

That's interesting. I will see if I can figure it out. Meanwhile, what's this new tuner?

It is a combo tuner DVB-T/T2/S/S2 we finally found a manufacturer that will work with us.
First out the gate will be a narrowband DVB-T receiver, we already have modified firmware to
support that then we will move on to DVB-S/S2.

I should get the prototype in a few days so I can start the coding.

Brilliant. I look forward to seeing the results. NB-DVB-T would be great for 6m and 4m Es I think.

The RF part in the DVB-T section goes down to 44 MHz according to the spec I have seen.

How narrow DVB-T are we talking then?!

Watching with interest :-)

1 MHz but I know which (clock) variable in the firmware needs changing to get the reduced bandwidth so it might
work at lower bandwidths but until I have some working code I can't give a definitive answer.
