Activity weekend - Feb 9th and 10th

This weekend is the 2nd BATC activity weekend of 2019.

The weather looks significantly warmer than last weekend so hopefully some will tempted to venture in to the hills - but don't forget you can also take part from the warmth of your shack.

I'm planning to go out portable on Saturday - currently I'm thinking to go back to Sparsholt above Wantage IO91FN which is good towards the west for the Bristol team and north / north west towards Luton but open to offers.

Be nice to try some of the higher bands (maybe 10GHz or 24GHz) in preparation for the High band special weekend in March when there will be awards for best DX etc on 5.6GHz, but again open to offers.

On Sunday I will be at the Harwell rally.

Really sorry that I will be unable to get out portable today for the Activity Weekend. That doesn't stop anybody else getting on the air though!

I will be at Harwell tomorrow demonstrating DATV across the rally table, but I'm not sure that really counts.

Kit is being prepared for the 5.6 GHz and up Activity Weekend next month.

As their was not going to be any LF activity this weekend i continued the limesdr challenge and went and tried the usual 35km path on 2.3GHz. Using the preamp+ filter + pluto and sdrangel didnt work so I reverted to the preamp+filter+minituoner which received the signal at a MER of 14dB. Antenna at both ends was a tonna yagi

No activity sunday as going to Harwell rally need to find a big enough box for the 7" 2019 portsdown setup!

Went out portable to try my all-new setup on 23cms. Portsdown worked flawlessly although only used to check for signals using the spectrum facility. Audio is a bit low for windswept hilltops, I need a mobile shack van
Didn't work or 'see' any stations/repeaters and it soon became apparent that it was too cold for me, especially when rain joined in.
Going to listen on 2M today, triband collinear on the chimney, SE London so a bit hopeful.
