5.6GHz North Wales to Cumbria.
Re: 5.6GHz North Wales to Cumbria.
Great result, chaps.
I'm hoping to be active on 5.6 at some point in the near future - probably from somewhere on Winter Hill. I'm not sure I could find a spot up there with los to Cumbria /and/ N Wales, but I haven't looked at profiles properly yet.

Impressive results and systems, particularly at the Cumbria end - I feel the 138Km record is definitely slipping Northwards
We're starting to think about things we should be talking about at CAT18 and 5.6 GHz is definitely on the agenda - be great to have some info and demos from you.

Shaun,
North-south paths are difficult to find. Even from Cleeve, there's nothing north of Telford. An interesting one to try would be north to south across Cardigan Bay, but it's a bit of a drive.
John,
We've pencilled in another test for Tuesday April 3rd, before and after the 2m FM Cumulative. It looks like there might be some common ground WNW of Blackrod.

I spoke with someone about a path from near Winter Hill to us in Cumbria a little while ago - apologies, but I can't recall if it was you or not ?
But depending on where abouts near Winter Hill, I'm pretty sure we would get a path to one of our locations in Cumbria.
If you want to try it sometime let me know and we can work out the best paths.

Whereabouts will you be operating from, Brian? If it's the Wirral, then I think it'll be do-able from one of my usual perches on Winter Hill. However, im not sure that I'll have the kit sorted out by the 3rd - I'm pretty busy at the moment with work and domestic tasks, and need to get my Portsdown boards lashed together too, so I imagine it's going to be another month befor I'm ready for path testing

Yes, it was me - and I was hoping to have my kit sorted out by now (but see above).
I did look at the path profile from you to WH and it doesn't look good to any of my normal operating spots - but there is a small spot on the NW side of the hill where it looks possible -
I'll need to check the path to Brian from there and if that looks OK, I'll have a drive up there and look how level the ground is, and how much room at the side of the road - that may be a good point to try both paths from. Not looking forward to the drive, though, it's a very lumpy unmade 'road' having said that, I've done it in a small hatchback before now, so I should be ok in the truck (as long as the ride doesn't shake everything to bits )

John,
Next Tuesday, I'll be near Flint at IO83JG40. Even from my poor home QTH in Birkenhead, I should be able to work you at Matchmoor Lane or the cattle grid.

I hope to be at Winter Hill again over Easter. I don't do analogue but will take 2m, 70cm and 24GHz.

Hi John,
I do but there is nothing to see. A DB6NT transverer in a weather sealed box that I am not planning to open.
