Sept 16th and 17th activity weekend.

Post by g8gtz » Wed Sep 06, 2017 5:36 pm

The next activity weekend is only 10 days away - you don't have to go out /p but it is an opportunity to get that portsdown (or 5.6GHz FPV gear) on the air.

Please post your plans here so others know what activity there will be, and don't forget the portable site map if you are looking for places to go: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... -HE2sxqL0c

I've not planned anything yet but will be out /p somewhere!

All being well I will be on Dunstable Downs with 2M and 5GHz Sunday 17th. Not sure about Saturday yet.

I will be out on Sunday only at Win Green near Shaftesbury - good to North and West - https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... 26547&z=11.

Bands will be 146 DATV, 5.6 GHz ATV and 24GHz NB.

Talk back 144.750, 144.175 (Microwave TB), KST, DXspot and 07881914287
Also we do have a low bandwidth chat only channel connected to DXspot that can be used by mobiles with poor coverage. Before you leave home, log in to the main DXspot site using your mobile device (to pick up authentication cookies) and then go to https://philcrump.co.uk/dxchat/?room=1 and you'll have a full screen chat only interface :) Well that was the original instruction from Phil but it now looks like you can just log in on the page...

BTW - it is hoped that G4UVZ and G3VPF will also be out on 5.6GHz ATV.

I will be around from home (Harwell, not Bolton). I have only just got back from an overseas trip so not really able to go portable.

With nobody on a path to the downs for 5GHz I will be staying in my warm shack on Sunday.

Saturday I'm heading N/W to collect a vehicle I acquired for portable ops. :D

A successful outing to Portsdown Hill today (pictures from G4GUO on 146 and 437).

I will be at Povington Hill, near Lulworth in Dorset tomorrow (Sunday 17th) from about 1130 with 5665 MHz FM and 146.5 MHz DATV. Also 437 DATV RX only. Talkback on 144.75 slant polarisation.

GW3NWR/P will be at Rhosesmor, North Wales from 1pm on Sunday.

We'll be travelling fairly light with only 2m digital tx/rx, 3cm digital tx/tx and 6cm digital tx/rx.

On Sunday 17th, I went to Povington Hill, IO80WP01UD and operated on 5665 MHz FM ATV. A very successful day with four 2-way contacts, including 2 recent newcomers/returners to ATV. Best DX was G7JTT/P at 86 km (P4-P5 both ways). New contacts were Ed G3VPF/P at Hardy's Monument (28 km) and Adrian G4UVZ/P at Castle Hill (72km). I also worked G8GTZ/P sitting in the comfort of his warm(ish) Land Rover.

Screen captures below using the Portsdown software with an EasyCap. These single-frame captures seem to emphasise the noise on the signal - its amazing how much averaging and filtering your eye/brain does when you are looking at a monitor!
