ATV tests Monday to Friday

Post by G4HTZ » Wed Jul 05, 2017 5:01 pm

Now I've finally got my portsdown working , just wondering if there is any interest in 70cms DATV tests during the day Monday to Friday.

Weekends not generally that free for me to participate.

I can set up by about 12.00 onwards most days at a local high spot ...well high for Essex ...at about 350ft asl with good take off in most directions .

I will have about 20w on 70cms ..mast head pre amp feeding minitoune and 18 ele yagi.
Will have 10ghz at some point ..just need to get a 70cms amp with about 300mw to drive the transverter from the portsdown.
Talk back on 2m with 5 ele horizontal yagi.

Must be loads of retired / semi retired amongst us ??

Please reply if you might be interested...I can then sort out a mast and stand etc .

Hi Steve,

Yes, always looking for an excuse to go out /p and I can probably encourage a couple other folks to be around. Several locations available which should work in to the high spots of Essex, particularly on 70cms, and all bands up to 10 GHz available.

Also be worth trying to access GB3HV on 70cms - it's a great site to the east and we can see Canary Wharf from the top of the tower. The public rotator web page is u/s at the mo so would need prior notice to set it up.

Suggest some dates...

Hi Noel
Ok that's great
Leave it with me ...need a support for a portable mast and will be ready .
Take off to south west round to north east is excellent from proposed site , can see right across London .
Cheers

Hi Noel and John
Just ordered one of those drive on mast supports which hopefully will be here early next week.

How about Thursday 13th July ??
I could probably be set up about 11 .

Noel can see Canary Wharf , post office tower and St. Paul's from up there so possibly a path to HV ..no 3.4ghz here but maybe watch it on BATC streamer on iPad tethered to my I phone ...believe 437mhz 333 is auto select on HV.

Proposed location is langdon hills country park nr Basildon Essex JO01FN

Thursday's are good for me so let's go for the 13th.

We need to find a site at this end - had a look at Langdon and it's good but for a first attempt we probably should try a a short path first...

Can you give me the exact location and I'll do some path plots.

I'll get back with a plan once I've finished sorting out the CQ-TV to go out tonight :-)

Hi Noel
If you have google maps or similar ...I'm proposing to use the car park in westey heights country park known as beacon field car park ...it's just back along dry street before the junction with the high street/ B1007 ...hopefully it won't be full up with cars with dog walkers etc ....

There is a large communications tower adjacent which may or may not cause problems

Cheers

Hi Steve,

That site looks a bit wooded but hopefully you will get out OK. The best site for me to go to is the Hoggs Back - see below. It's not a great site as it is a very busy road but should do for a first test

You should be able to work Dave G8ADM from there very easily on 70cms.
