International Activity/Contest Weekend 10/11 June
International Activity/Contest Weekend 10/11 June
The IARU International ATV Contest takes place on 10/11 June. I am keen that we should generate as much (if not more) activity as we saw in May.
Please start planning now and post your plans here. If you need any help with the contest side of it, please ask me. All you need to do is send 4 numbers by video and keep a record of the numbers that you see. Numbers should be different for each band. Then send sequential reports (again, starting at 1 for each band). Not complicated at all, and we have a real chance of showing the rest of Europe that we are leading the way!

Don't forget BATC will be awarding a special certificate for the best Portsdown to Portsdown contact and one for the best Portsdown DX contact and Portsdown has been designed to make the contest exchange easy with the built in 4 digit number generator.
It will be great to see as many people as possible on the air (35+ were mentioned in the reports for last weekend) and CQ-TV 255 contains full details on the contest on page 6.

Only a week to go until the big activity weekend of the year - and the IARU contest!
Please try and get "on the air" - make a special effort to use your local repeater or better still work someone direct - either way, let Dave G8GKQ know who you worked and saw, even if you don't submit an official entry, You can email him at contests@batc.tv
And if you are intending to be on during the weekend, let us know here so we can look out for you:
On Saturday, I will be somewhere in IO91 square or maybe down on the coast in IO90 and then Sunday I will be on Brown Clee in Shropshire - an amazing site where you can work stations in both the North and the South of the country, so listen out for me. I will have equipment for the following bands:
146 MHz RB-TV
437 MHz RB-TV and DATV
23cms - RB-TV, DATV and ATV
3.4 GHz - RB-TV
5.7 GHz - maybe ATV if the parcel from ebay arrives in time!
10 GHz RB-TV, DATV and ATV
Talkback - 144.750, www.dxspot.tv and 07881914287

Re: International Activity/Contest Weekend 10/11 June
G3NWR/P should be at Merryton Low, Staffordshire, IO93AD on the Sunday.
We'll probably have:
23cm: DATV, ATV
RB-TV rx only
3cm: RB-TV, ATV
DATV rx only
2m: RB-TV
A token presence on 70cm, 13cm and 9cm:
70cm: good antenna and rx, tx only a few mW
13cm: rx on a small antenna
9cm: LNB only on receive, tx only a few mW to a 10dB antenna
With no contest points available for 2m contacts, I originally wasn't planning to take it. Are people going to be spending much time on it?

Re: International Activity/Contest Weekend 10/11 June
Change of plan - unfortunately due to G3UKV (the site key holder) being unwell, I will NOT be on Brown Clee on Sunday.
Still trying to work out what to do but I will be in the south on Saturday - possibly Fairlight near Hasting (JO00HU) specifically to work F, ON and PA stations - and trying to find an alternative site that is good to the North on Sunday.
Brian makes a good point re 146 not being in the IARU contest so may leave that at home and focus on 70cms and 23cms.
I will also have:
3.4 GHz transmit (5 watts) and receive
The 5.6 GHz parcel did arrive from ebay so 750 milliwatts on 5.6 in to a sky mini dish.
5 watts 3cms ATV and DATV in to 60cms offset

Or you could come along to the microwave round table in Chilton on Sunday and give us a demonstration of microwave activity in DATV! Its not a bad site and not far from the Ridgeway.

G3NWR/P: We'll now have a good system on 13cm analogue. I don't operate on 13cm myself, but I've read the Ofcom document relating to interference mitigation and I assume that you can use 2320-2350MHz at the weekend.
