An early warning that several of us may be out /p this Thursday.
G8VPG and others including myself are planning to go up on the Mendips = IO81PH and Brian G4EWJ is probably going up to Winter Hill which is a 250+ Kms path.
Everyone else is welcome but let us know what your plans are and what band you will be on.

I will be around but from home with 23cm QRO and 2m.
My Path to IO81 is good from home but probably just too far with the poor tropo at present.
Back end of next week is looking like high pressure (1045mb!) so maybe a chance of tropo

I can confirm that myself & Brian G6AUR are OK for the Mendips on 22nd December. At present, I am planning only 2m operation, but could bring 437MHz if necessary. Ivor may also be available to join us. We do need to agree a time to be on site. It is only about 45 minutes drive from home for me, so we can be quite flexible, but would like to minimise waiting around.
Tropo looks flat for tomorrow, but according to F5LEN, there will be another big lift on 29th December, so if we fail tomorrow it may be better next week!

It's about an 80 minute drive for me. How about on air at 1300?

That's OK with me Brian. It should give Noel time to get over aswell; his journey might be a bit longer than yours.

Good luck with your DX attempt on Thursday if you have the time we will be listening out in IO91SW. We did not hear any portable stations on the last activity day so it would be nice to make contact over a good distance from the home station. Happy Christmas from the Bedfordshire ATVrs.

The Southern group on the Mendips are aiming to be on site by midday and on air shortly thereafter. I will endeavour to turn the beam East and see what can be heard that way. We are slightly obstructed by a water tank to the East and may need to move the car to avoid it if we can't get enough height to get over it.

Well we tried, and listened through GB3ZZ.
G4CPE/G0WFT/M0SKM called most of the pm. Conditions not good and beams not coming our way
We'll be around again next week if the promised tropo arrives.

Not good choice of day for me as it was the day I was travelling up - now on Winter Hill for the Holidays.
