I wonder what peoples plans are for the next ATV Activity Weekend on 9-10th July? I am able to go out portable from a hill top somewhere in the West country (which I have not yet decided) if there are likely to be some other stations to work. I will have 146.5MHz, any symbol rate, and now also 437MHz, any symbol rate (just got my new amplifier running!).

I won't be out for the coming weekend, but should be for the August one.

Hi Shaun

Happy to go out for a few tests next weekend but not a major effort - will be out in August and can make that a major expedition as I've realised we are away for the September weekend :-(

Hi

Unfortunately, I'm busy (helping Frank run a TV studio for the Scouts) this weekend, so won't be on the air.

Hope to be on in August.

I will not be /P this time, the van is going in for repair.

QRV 2/70/23cm from home, IO94IL.

23cm could be interesting for aircraft reflections, i can run 400W Analogue or about 150W digital (inc RBTV) to 3m dish.

I should be on site and set up by 2.30pm today at IO81TK, Lansdown, Bath, 228m asl, next to Bath Race Course. I will have 146.5 & 437MHz digital ATV, any symbol rate. Talkback 144.750MHz. Any calls will be much appreciated.

Suppose I could come on, if there is any activity. But only 2m/70cm

Just for the record, I did go out yesterday to a site just east of M3 Junc 7.

I worked G8VPG - he and Martin (G7NSY?) received me on 146.5 and I received Shaun on 437MHz 2 Ms and 333 Ks over a pretty obstructed path at a distance of 91 Km.

Also tried with G4KLB who managed to receive me on 437Mhz 125 Ks over an even more obstructed path of 74 Kms.

No one else was around - I wish I had read your post earlier Mike :-(

Lessons learnt were that I need an SDR or some form of spectrum viewer in the system to see whether interference is a problem or just lack of signal. Also, always advertise your plans on the forum rather than by email!

I hope to be out for the next ATV weekend on August 13th / 14th and whilst I will be away for the September weekend, I am planning to go to the Telford rally on September 3rd so planning to be portable from Long Mynd or Clee Hill in Shropshire on Saturday September 2nd - should be good for long paths towards the North and South - more details nearer the time.

Martin G7NSY, Brian G6AUR & myself were out portable on Saturday afternoon, 9th July, near to Bath Race Course, Lansdown. It was a warm, sunny afternoon with a strong breeze. The site is 228m asl, locator IO81TK. I have used it before for narrowband voice activity, but not ATV. We were able to send some good pictures to Noel on 437MHz, which I was pleased about because it was the first test of my new 437MHz amplifier. On receive, we couldn't quite lock up a picture from Noel. I have since acquired a 19 ele Tonna to replace the 10 ele Cushcraft that I was using, which should give another 3dB or so (once I have repaired and refurbished it!).
We were able to exchange two way pictures on 146.5MHz, which pleased Martin because this was the first outing with his new kit. Colin G4KLB was active, but we couldn't hear his 2m talkback, so we packed up at that point.
I hope to be out on the next weekend, Saturday 13th August, but not on the Sunday because that is the Flight Refuelling Rally, which last year was a good gathering for the Southern ATV clan.
73 Shaun.

Screen shot of Noels 125Ks 437MHz signal received in Bournemouth.
Will have to find a high hill for the next one :D
We tried 333Ks first and no signal was seen, as soon as Noel changed to 125Ks I had a lock immediately :o
