International ATV Contest 11/12 June - Update

Post by G8GKQ » Wed May 11, 2016 9:49 am

The IARU International ATV Contest will be held on Saturday/Sunday 11/12 June this year. The IARU Contest includes all bands from 432 MHz up. It would be good to show the rest of Europe how active we really are!

Additionally, the BATC will run an ATV Contest on 71 MHz and 146 MHz at the same time, so the contest will effectively be "all bands" in the UK. There will also be 2 prizes of £50 Amazon Vouchers for the best DX RB-TV Contact during the contest.

In short:

- Contest runs from 1pm BST on Saturday 11 June until 7 pm BST on Sunday 12 June

- All bands from 70 MHz upwards - analogue and digital.

- Contacts on 432 MHz and above count towards the IARU International ATV Contest; rules here: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/IARU_AT ... n_2015.pdf

- RB-TV Prize Rules here: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/RB-TV%2 ... 0Rules.pdf

- IARU Entry Logsheet here: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/ATV_con ... YYMMDD.xls

- 146 and 70 Logsheet here: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/70-146_ ... urcall.xls

Last year's IARU Results are here: http://www.iaru-r1.org/index.php/vhfuhsshf/1455-atv

So, it's time to check your portable gear, apply for your 70 MHz Special Research Permit, and get building!

Please post details of planned activity below.

[ I will be out /p in Southern England (site tbd) with 146, 437, and 1255 MHz equipment ]

Although I haven't decided which sites I will be active from yet (in central southern England), I plan to go out portable on Saturday 11 June with 146, 437 and 1255 MHz analogue, RB-TV and DATV gear. I will activate a different site on Sunday 12 June with 10367 MHz RB-TV and 146 and either 437 or 1255.

Please post details of your planned activity here. Note that we are starting to populate the BATC Wiki with potential portable locations: https://wiki.batc.tv/Directory_of_portable_sites. Please add your favourite sites!

I have updated all the links in the post above.

I hope to be out portable as GW8VPG/P. This time I am hoping to be on a higher site, the Blorenge Mountain (515m) near Abergavenny. At present, I am likely to have just 146.5MHz RB-DATV, any symbol rate. I probably will only be out for one day and will choose which depending on who else is out, to maximise the number of potential contacts. I am working on a new 437MHz amplifier, but it is unlikely to be finished in time, and I am still trying to sort out 146.5MHz receiver mixer issues, but I have a standby receiver available if necessary!

I plan to be portable from one of my usual locations on the North York Moors on the Saturday with good takeoff to the south.
On the Sunday (activity permitting) i will be on from another site for more local activity, probably Ellingstring near Masham, Ripon.

I will be QRV on all bands from 146MHz-24GHz.

Look forward to some good dx ;-)

I will be going out but not decided where yet, but probably different sites on Saturday and Sunday. I like the idea of focusing activity on different days and so may primarily do 146 and 437 on Saturday from a site good for the UK and other bands on Sunday from a site nearer the south / east coast.

Likely bands are 146, 437, 23cms, 5.6 GHz IP video? and 10 GHz RB-TV.

BTW - Due to a policy of constant improvement :-) I do have a spare set of 146 MHz equipment that I would be happy to loan to someone who will get it on air during the contest.

It consists of:
RPI and camera
Digithin board with 146.5 output
RD06 and 15 amplifier producing 3 watts from RPI
Rx up converter with front end filter.

You will need to provide:
Antennae and co-ax changeover relay
Mast head pre-amp
Minituner and PC
Transmit bandpass filter

If interested, please PM me.

I can't make the activity on 11/12th June. However, I will be operating from a site that's good to the South in IO83 this coming week on 146.5 and maybe 436MHz. NBDATV only (I don't have analogue). I can work locally on 23cms but not to a sensible antenna.

Mike, if you're already home, GW3NWR/P will be at Rhosesmor, North Wales at 1pm today for a few hours. It's mainly to try 2m with M0DTS/P.

Dave,

I am afraid I have only just applied for a 71 MHz SRP so I doubt I will get it in time.
Maybe in time for the next activity period.

We just missed you.

We failed to receive M0DTS/P on 146MHz RB-TV over the 198km path. There was plenty of carrier and SR lock, but no decode, even at 125kS.

We received the Blackpool repeater under test off the back of their beam at MER 22 on 23cm and called CQ through GB3UD without success, but it was a very quiet day.
