BATC SummerFun Contest 14 - 15 June 2014

Post by G8GKQ » Wed May 21, 2014 4:52 pm

Don't forget that the BATC SummerFun Contest will run from 1200 UTC (GMT) on Saturday 14 June 2014 until 1200 UTC (GMT) on Sunday 15 June 2014. There is also a Dutch ATV Contest on the same weekend.

There is a prize of a Nexus 7 for the highest placed BATC Member in the Digital Section. The Digital Section Rules are published below.

The full Summerfun Rules are here: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/BATC_Su ... _Rules.pdf and the Blank logsheets are here: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/ATV_IARU_Logsheet.xls. Contest logs to me (contests@batc.org.uk) by e-mail or post before 30 June.

Digital Section Rules

The Digital Section is simply another scoring method for Contacts made within the normal contest rules:

1. To be counted within the Digital Section, contacts must be valid for scoring within the wider SummerFun Contest. The rules are published at: http://www.batc.org.uk/contests/BATC_Su ... _Rules.pdf

2. Only contacts made using DVB-S or DVB-T transmission modes can be counted within the Digital section.

3. Only contacts made on 70 cm and 23 cm can be counted within the digital section. Contacts on both bands are to be scored at 1 point per km for a one-way digital contact and 2 points per km for a 2-way digital contact. If a 2-way contact is made, but one transmission path is analogue, the contact counts as a one-way contact for the Digital Section.

4. The winner of the digital section will be the BATC Member who achieves the highest total of points for 70 cm and 23 cm under these rules.

5. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the BATC Committee will be final.

In the Netherlands, the starting time is not identical as in UK (in NL contest period is Saturday 18:00 UTC to Sunday 12:00 UTC). So please be not disappointed is you do not see activity from the Netherlands in the beginning.

Saturday evening I will be present on 70 cm (receiving with an RTL dongel), 23 cm, 13 cm and 6 cm (analogue). The location of my QTH does not make it likely to contact any station in UK :(

On Sundaymorning I go portable to http://no.nonsense.ee/qthmap/?qth=JO22QA39UX , 80 meters above sea level.
The station I carry through the woods:
- 6 cm: 1,5 W into a 45 cm dish,
- 1,2 cm: 0,8 W into a 35 cm dish.

If you would like to have an idea about the Dutch ATV participants three months ago (March contest), please visit http://www.pi6anh.com/veron/_pages/defa ... artikel=51

Enjoy!

There is also a French ATV contest on this weekend "le Championnat de France TVA" and Dominque F5AXP has posted details of the BATC contest on the French ATV reflector at http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/ListeATV/ - if you have yahoo account and speak French , you can log in and read the messages.

Note - they use 144.750 FM and 144.170 SSB for talk back.

And Hepburn http://www.dxinfocentre.com/tropo_nwe.html seems to be indicating conditions may be good for the weekend ;-)

Hope to work to work you all during the weekend

If you work someone on analogue and digital on a given band do you have to submit two excel spreadsheets?
I assume its best to use different numbers for analogue and digital as well.

I will be on the air this weekend from my new QTH in Cornwall! IO70OG - Mevagissey CORNWALL PL26 6TZ 260ft ASL.

I will be TX (300W) and RX on 437Mhz DATV and hoping to contact France as I have a clear path across the sea to the north coast of France. Also be active on 23cm analogue TX and RX for local stations as power is just 18W.

Look forward to hooking up either via 144.750 or dxspot.tv
