Post by G8GKQ » Thu May 07, 2015 12:27 pm

Some more news about this year's BATC Summerfun ATV Contest, which coincides with the IARU Region 1 International ATV Contest. Highlights:

- Contest runs from 1pm on Saturday 13 June until 7 pm on Sunday 14 June

- All bands from 70 MHz upwards.

- BATC Award for best DX using 800 KHz bandwidth (or less) RB-TV on any band, with a £50 Amazon Voucher for both stations involved.

- Contacts on 432 MHz and above count towards the IARU International ATV Contest

So, it's time to check your portable gear, apply for your 70 MHz Special Research Permit, and get building!

More details to follow.

Potential /p sites in Wales?

Post by g8gtz » Sat May 16, 2015 8:17 pm

I am going on holiday the week before the summerfun contest and won't arrive home until the Saturday afternoon - bad timing I know, but maybe I could turn it to my advantage if I can find a good /p site in mid /south / east Wales that I can drive on to. Any suggestions??

Also I will be staying very near GB3GW so if I take the gear, I might be able to put some pictures in on 23cms....

Here are my plans for the ATV Contest 13/14th June:

On the Saturday i will be at IO94DE Ellingstring, nr Ripon - Active from 1pm until activity runs out!
This site has good takeoff to South East round to north, nothing to the west or due south unfortunately.

On the Sunday i will be on the IO94MJ North York Moors - Active from 10am onwards unless there's a hint of early tropo :-)
Good Take off in most directions at 1200ft Asl

I will be active on all bands from 146MHz -> 24GHz, with low SR DATV possible on all bands except 6cm.
I will have analogue still on all bands above 146MHz.
Hopefully that caters for every possibility ?!

If anyone wants to come along and help or just see what goes on then please let me know.

Hi

The current plan is to go to Blorenge mountain above Abergavenny (IO81LS) which has very good take to the east round to the south west - but unlikely we will work Rob.

I will have 146.5 RB-TV, 437 MHz DATV and 23cms ATV & DATV and be there from 12 noon for about 5 hours dependeing on activity (and Sally's Kindle battery)!

I will be out near home (not confirmed where) on Sunday and may have 10 GHz rx

I will have DXspot.tv and mobile phone but only mobile whip on 144.750 - it would be good to set up some scheds before hand to make sure it is worth taking all this gear (and a trailer) on holiday up to North Wales....

Please Post your anticipated activity in the contest here.

I hope to be out /P somewhere North of Southampton on Saturday afternoon with 70 cms and 23 cms analogue and digital. Possibly 13 cms and 3 cms as well. Contact via 144.75 MHz FM or http://DXSpot.TV chat.

Change of plan...

I will not be /p from Wales on Saturday but will be out on Saturday afternoon / Sunday from IO91 square, hopefully from a site with good take off to the North.

Hope to work you all - pm me if you want to set up a sched, if not see you on dxspot.tv

IARU International Contest Results

Post by G8GKQ » Thu Jul 16, 2015 5:46 am

The International Results for this contest have been published here: http://www.iaru-r1.org/images/VHF/atv/I ... _2015a.pdf

Congratulations to M0DTS who was the highest-placed UK entry as his scores from his 2 operating sites were combined.

A really good contest, with 47 entries in total including 11 from the UK. The map on the last page of the results shows the geographical spread of all the active stations across Europe.

Let's try to get 50 stations on the air for the next activity weekend on 12/13 September!
