Re: Nov 11th/12th Activity Weekend
If you have Satsagen I use it as a sanity check. When you go to calibrate the SA/TG it sometimes shows a weird slow squarewave. Usually indicative of needing a re-flash.
It solves some weird behavior it seems to conjure up sometimes.....

Unfortunately I've still only got the 50W amp on 70cm so unlikely to work any Dx but we can try.
I'll be off out this evening and setup for tomorrow, there's possibly another light show from the aurora tonight...

Hope you have clear sky Rob, and if it does show, please text me and stream it on QO-100
Gareth.

Heard you calling a couple of times on 2m …went back to you with 100w but you weren’t hearing me …try another time if I get the Pluto working againradiogareth wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:00 pmIf you have Satsagen I use it as a sanity check. Overnight was fine but have multiple problems here today after re-building multiple bits of equipment
70cm Rx is oscillating now its inside a box... how unusual is that!
The big amp box with 23/13/9cm PA's inside has popped a 12v fuse and wont accept another
Basically a no go from me, sorry!!

Re: Nov 11th/12th Activity Weekend
Morning Steve. There might be hope....if we were at cross-polarisation (vertical colinear here) that's -30dB. But on 70cms we both have 14 ele beams.
Happy to send RF your way some time this morning. I'm on top-band 9:30 until 10 (1.905) then available other than around 11am for a short while.
We can but try.....used a lot of electricity yesterday trying to work Martin G4FKK who, although only 8 miles away, is the other side of a large hump. Some interesting multipath effects (pictures later) including some aircraft doppler. But not enough for copy....

The 12.5v to 13.8v Boost converter that I've used for about 6 years in the van must have had a fit today...
This saved my Mitsubishi brick...
The Tv/Monitor that's also dead let the smoke out, seems to be a 4201 something, Looks pin identical to TPS564201 so there is hope!

Re: Nov 11th/12th Activity Weekend
Well a lot of DC was consumed but no actual pictures were exchanged. Some interesting propagation (I use the term in jest) between Martin G4FKK and myself, just 8 miles or so apart, but with a big hump of gravel in-between us.
Martin was able to decode just the headers of my signal, no call sign or picture. On trying the reverse, a strange multipath 'double hump' waveform was seen. We peaked up our beams but it remained. Swinging a little off direct reduced the double hump but also reduced the signal.
Aircraft coming in towards Heathrow often fly along the line between us before looping around for the final approach and sure enough, this fast flutter/multi-pathing was also seen, short duration (10-15 seconds) as it was flying at 120+ mph.
We also tried aiming at the Crystal Palace tower, similar results, a double hump and no decode.
This morning I tried TXing to Rob, he could occasionally see my signal (aircraft?) and copied a 300 Watt CW carrier at +15dB. So DATV did not really stand much of a chance......

If you move frequency you may see the dip in the middle move about to let you get the signal through.
Something to try next time.
