FT2232H mini module XP problem

Post by M0ATV » Wed Oct 19, 2011 9:31 pm

Im having a problem getting my PC to actually recognise the FT2232H mini usb module, is there a way to connect it direct without external dc i.e. out of the box & install drivers, I dont even get NEW HARDWARE FOUND pop up, using XP Pro with SP3, have followed the info from here >

http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documen ... 093%29.pdf

Have spent most of today getting GBPVR configured to run with my PVR-150MCE & all working fine there, just need to get the digilite FT2232H mini usb device problem sorted & I can get on with testing tx output on air tests.

The FT2232H is powered via the USB port and doesn't need the external power to be recognised by the PC. I would remove the PIC while you're trying to install it without external power, so that you don't have an unpowered device attached to the module.

Check that D1 under the module on the top side goes between the 2 single holes and ignore the double holes in between them. The band should go to the right. D1 connects the 5v output from the module back into its own 3.3v regulator. With the module connected to the PC, check for 5v on the left of D1.

On the underside, look for a track that connects CN3 pins 12 and 22 together and then goes off to a via near R4. There should be 3.3v on this via. If not, then the module is not powering itself.

I'll be listening on 750 from 11am tomorrow if you're around.

Hello, Thanks to all amateurs in the world that have made possible a project like Digilite, and also thanks to the BATC to make available components to assemble Digilite.
Well; yesterday I was broadcasting test when accidentally fell down my DATV transmitter, pulled the laptop but this did not fall
USB cable was permanently connected to the module FT2232H, by the fall ripped the mini USB connector on the PBC
today I tried to solve by connecting on the transmitter panel an USB connector type B to FT2232H module
I thought that this would solve everything but after a few minutes of transmission fell Digilite 1.4b software, and Windows XP does not recognize the USB device, appears to have spoiled the module FT2232H. :?:
Can someone tell me something, thanks in advance
Josue

Hi Josue,

Good to hear another country on DigiLite.

If it worked for a few minutes, then your connections must have been OK. I assume that you have connected the 5v wire underneath, as the pad for it on top is missing. The pad next to your yellow ground wire seems to be connected to ground in some diagrams. If the cable has 5 wires, you could try connecting the other black wire to the pad next to the yellow wire. You could also then try connecting the 2 pads together.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for your response and many thanks for your great job Digilite software, follow their recommendation and connect the two pads together, but the problem continues, I did not give up, then carefully reconnect the mini usb connector to the module FT2232H and apparently there was an improvement because windows recognizes the device but apparently the port 10 (data) does not work, in the Device Manager window appears only port 11.
I wonder if someone else will have had a similar problem?

I don't know how it could have lost part of its settings, but you could try doing the configuration again and see what that does.

I uninstalled and went back to install the module FT2232H and everything is working as before, I must say something: I use patch cables to connect the USB type B connector to the module FT2232H, maybe the cable harness in any way affected the way the data signal, now with the mini USB connector into place again, everything is ok.
Thanks very much Brian

Good. USB2.0 runs at up to 480Mbps, so the cable is probably very important.
