transmit resync

Post by on4bhm » Sun Mar 04, 2012 9:38 pm

Hi,

I have a demo program which generates a mpg file from a live capture source... for instance your webcam etc.
I wanted to use it together with the transmit program.
I works, but the transmit program resync very very often..
There are a few settings i can adjust in the capture program... but no one seem to work better.

what can i do to investigate further...

I think this would be a great plus, you don't need a capture card anymore...

can anyone help?
thanks

These are the options a can play with:
Bitrate: 4,8,9,10,12,15,20,... Mbps
bitrate control: const bitrate
Keyfrm distance: 3
GOP size: 15
ME algorithm: Local & log
Profile: Main
Level: High
Threads: Auto
Aspect ratio: copy from input
video format: PAL
color format: YUV 4:2:0
Intra dc precision: AUTO
Interlace: copy from input

Hope this helps

The bit rate for SR4167 FEC 3/4 is 4690, so I would use 4Mbps on your program.

I do not know if your program writes to disk in the same way as GBPVR. GBPVR writes each frame separately. Maybe your program writes a whole GOP (15 frames) together. A delay like that may cause a problem.

If your program is doing the MPEG compression, that will make the PC very busy and DL Transmit may not get the processing time it needs when it needs it.

You could try increasing the two delay settings in DL Config - say 300ms. This will give more buffering capacity.

ok, i will try this evening.

maybe you can also play with the software.
it's not for free, but you can test for 30 days.

i already have some modules from these guys. so it's possible i can make something with it that doesn't costs me too much extra.

www.medialooks.com

you have to register.

and download the broadcast automation platform.
than you have to install it.
you can run the live source c# demo

you don't need to have a webcam or other device connected at that time.
you can use a still picture (testcard)

Maybe you can check this out?

thanks

i'm transmitting now while i type....
i installed the software on my desktop system (i7 proc)
now it works perfect !!

there is no resync anymore
avail is between 400k-550k
pad = 28.3%

my picture on the receiver should be stable now !
i'm using 5000k/s 3/4 fec

a month ago, i wrote a programme called personal profile editor.
in short: this is a program to make overlay on captured images from webcam or other capture device.
this overlay can be send to our d-atv repeater on0snw.
users can activate their overlay on the repeater.
this overlay can consist of callsign, clock, station info ticker, etc...

this way people don't have to invest in hardware overlay for their atv stations.

i'm now using this same program together with the capture pack from medialooks.
with this programme you can connect to the inline stream of the previous programme and convert it to mpg.

the challenge now will be to integrate it all together...

you can test the personal profile editor here:
http://on0snw.tv/prog/Profiles/publish.htm

installation procedure in dutch can be found here:
http://www.on0snw.tv/index.php?option=c ... 1&Itemid=3

Hope to hear from all you digilite users !!

Good.

If it is OK on an i7, then maybe it needs a very powerful PC to run it.

Arn't we getting away from the simple system of a 1800MHz PC here?

How many people are running an i7 on this project?

KISS works for me!

i tried it on my quad core, and it worked also...
cpu usage is low....

but on my laptop (4 years old ) there were many resync's
cpu was in the range of 60-70%

indeed, you need a bigger cpu
but that's normal the video stream has to be converted into mpg....
this is normaly done in the haupage hardware...
