how can I record (on my win 7 PC) a stream from the BATC Streamer?

If you are watching using VLC, bottom left is a small red round button. That should start recording, not sure where it saves the files though, its a while since I did this and its not obvious (to me anyway).

it works!
you need to enable the "Advanced Controls" in View. the red button will then be visible and functional in the toolbar.
the recordings are saved as .ts files in the Videos folder of your Windows' User profile.
