Browsers Warning that BATC Streamer is not Fully Secure

Post by G8GKQ » Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:26 am

Some browsers (Opera, Edge....) are now raising warnings that certain BATC Streamer pages are not fully secure (see image below).

This is because the Stream owner has chosen to include resources (such as images and links) from non-HTTPS websites in the stream html description displayed below the video window.

The BATC Streamer is as secure as we can make it - the potential, perceived vulnerability is because we have allowed stream owners to customise their stream page. Not a major issue at present, but some browsers may upgrade this warning to a ban in future.

Stream owners are requested to amend their html descriptions to only link to https resources. Repeater stream owners are requested to post all their content to the relevant BATC Wiki page here https://wiki.batc.org.uk/UK_ATV_repeaters, and then link to it. This is an https site and so will overcome these wanrings.
