External video into Skype

The only way I can get into my local repeater is via Skype. This I can do with a webcam but I want to feed audio and video from
an external device (like a TriCaster) into the pc running Skype.
I have 3 usb video capture devices and a Canopus firewire box but don't know how to use them with Skype. Tried using old versions of Skype with no luck.
Has anyone got this to work?
