Reception Report

Post by gus_452000 » Wed Feb 05, 2014 6:43 pm

Hi guys,
on the 13th December 2013, I got your repeater here with excellent recption on my indoor homebrew 1.5 mtr dish (in the loft) the repeater was in at P3-4 there was quite a lot of radar QRM, but I was able to monitor the repeater for over 4 hours here. I also saw some live video from G0WFT (Don Saunders) the other station he was in QSO with was not seen on the repeater but his audio was on the stream.
My QTH is very bad for ATV, in your direction (most directions except for PA/DL hi) and my dishes azimuth was pointing not through the roof of my house but through the gable end (2 layers of bricks) and then directly into my neighbours houses and again yet more brick work, so the tropo was really excellent to get such a signal.
I will post some video later of just some of the reception.
regards

Hi Gus - thanks for the reception report - don't know where you are actually (without searching QRZ or similar elsewhere).. 1.5m Dish in loft :D - interesting - yes I expect attenuation on 1316 is quite high but the antenna makes up & is hidden I suppose! Good idea...

Hi QTH here is Scarborough locator io94sg (on QRZ dot com etc, must update that hi).
The antennas (all of them from 2 mtrs to 13cms) are all in the loft, access is easy, but had to build the dish in the garage, make the ribs and cover it etc, then take every nut and bolt out (over 300 of the things) so it would all fit through the loft hatch and then rebuild in situ.
Neighbours see an aerial go up and there TVs gone off, so just easier this way and I can sleep well at night when the winds blowing hi :D
Got 23cms DATV RX going here now, and 70cms DATV RX also (must get the TX side of things sorted)
