New to 13cms have some questions

Post by G0HWC » Mon Jun 06, 2011 5:16 pm

Hi all,
I am new to 13cms and have some basic questions.
I want to convert a Sky dish for 13cms, I have found many
using ether cantenna or bowtie "quad" what of these will work the best ?
A link to a good design would also be good. With these cheap wifi amps
from china that quote 2w o/p or so, what one if any work well at 13cms ?
and any mods needed ?

Many thanks in advance

Hello Paul

Like you I have been looking at these wi-fi extenders, as a low cost way of obtaining a reasonable power on 13cms, some of the atv's down here use ex sky dishes on 23cms, so they will work well on 13cms. Have a look at the uk microwave group scatter point magazine, the old editions are available on line. You can bet that there will be some articles about ex sky dishes and have fun with your atv project.

Hope it helps

Hi,

I have used a WiFi booster for 13cm amplifier but they are not designed to do 100% duty cycle like we require on ATV!
I fitted a copper heat spreader underneath the power device and it works fine for ~800mW output fro 10mW input. (1W version)
Most of them also work the same on 23cm with slightly less output power.

http://www.m0dts.co.uk/gb3km and see the how-to page.
It has some links to dish feeds if i remeber...long time since i did it !!
