It seems we are now permitted limited airborne operation at 500 mW EIRP

Interesting.....I have a good lifting kite, so some "tethered airbourne" might work.....but the FPV drone people are already doing it...maybe that's why its been added...

Not snakes on a plane, but a pluto on a drone - DATV transponder :-)

Now I've read the changes it looks like 2m is the highest of the 'regular' bands we could use as an output of an airborne transponder...
146.5 is not Primary so nothing can be done there.

But where would it go... Low SR? around 144.65? 66kS?
Input could be any band so 23m would be a good bet for now, nice small antenna!

Any better ideas?
DATV from a balloon would be far better, hope someone has a go at that too but much more faff with requiring CAA approval etc.

How about 145.500? Nobody seems to use it around here. More realistically, the RSGB printed band plans in Radcom this month, I suppose they were short of content beyond rucksacks on the air. It would imply 144.500 to 144.900, or possibly only up to 144.800 if you thing internet gateways matter. 144.650 seems a good choice.
