What Is the Best Way to Clean Discolored Vinyl Flooring?

Discoloration might impair the aesthetic appeal of your floor and we know the best way clean discolored vinyl flooring. Numerous factors can cause discoloration, but there are a few things you may already own at home that can help you remove the unattractive marks.

Baking soda

Baking soda, a natural vinyl floor cleaner that is almost certainly in your cabinet, performs a great job of eliminating most surface stains. This approach is the best way clean discolored vinyl flooring affected by food spills and grime.

To make a thick paste, combine baking soda and water. Scrub the spot with the paste using a sponge or brush. Examine the floor after wiping off the solution with a fresh towel. If necessary, repeat. When you're satisfied with the outcome, wipe away any paste leftovers with a microfibre towel dipped in regular water before blotting off any extra moisture.



Dish soap and apple cider vinegar

Dish soap and apple cider vinegar are a good combination for eliminating stains produced by fatty or oily meals. Dish soap, in addition to stain removal, may wash away dust and debris, effectively substituting apple cider vinegar during thorough cleaning of your floors.

Combine one cup of apple cider vinegar with one gallon of lukewarm water, followed by one tablespoon of dish soap. Scrub the spots from your vinyl floor using a soft bristle brush. Use a nylon bristle mop to mop the whole floor area with the solution. To clean any soap remains from the floors, use a clean mop and normal water. Using a microfibre towel, dry the flooring. If the discoloration spots haven't been eradicated, use the baking soda paste described above to scrub them.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is acidic and may quickly erase stains. However, you may use pure lemon juice, which makes it a more powerful approach for coping with discolouration.

It is simple to clean your floors using lemon juice. Simply split a lemon in half and smear the stain with it. Use the second half if required, and when you've eliminated the spot, wipe it away with a dry microfibre towel.

Rubbing alcohol

For eliminating ink and cosmetic spots, rubbing alcohol is a great alternative. To remove crayon markings, you may also use rubbing alcohol.

Dip a clean cloth into rubbing alcohol and roughly massage it over the spot. Repeat as required, then wipe clean with regular water. To avoid future discoloration, dry the floors with a clean microfibre towel.

WD-40

Most spots occur when moisture penetrates the core layers of the planks and causes scrapes and scuffs. Repairing them can help avoid discoloration, and WD-40 is a simple method to erase scuffs.

Dab some WD-40 on a microfiber cloth and gently massage it in a circular pattern over the scuff imprints.

I think the question was about using a satellite receiver, as in a commercial one that might, just about , sometimes, with a following wind and a lot of experience be made to work. They often have arcane tuning methods designed for their intended use rather than ours. Trying to use one often leads to frustration and loss of interest in DATV as being too difficult. Like trying to dig a hole with a rubber spade. Additionally they rarely work below 1 Ms, often 2 Ms.

If you still want to take on the challenge of trying to use a commercial RX, we need to know the make and model and firmware and hopefully someone else has done this before. Some people successfully use the relatively cheap sat finders, they can be fooled into working down to 1 Ms so can receive the QO100 beacon and many DATV repeaters on 23cm. There are some receivers, like the Octagon that will do 333ks but not very well, they tend to lock on to the strongest signal rather than the one you want. Don't even think about trying a redundant sky set top box.

If you want to use a satellite receiver terrestrially, usually you have to do some maths. They are expecting an LNB with an LO of 9.75 GHz or 10.6 GHz. It won't understand tuning to 23cm frequencies, it expects an LNB to be present and tunes to the IF from the LNB, typically 950MHz to 1750MHz. To receive a 23cm repeater you need to reverse engineer this and work out the satellite frequency which when the receiver tunes to that, would be an equal LNB IF frequency to the repeater channel. This way the receiver is fooled to tune where you want. Then connect the antenna, remembering to block the DC feed to the LNB. So for example, if the repeater is on 1315MHz you add 9750MHz and tell the receiver to tune to 11065 MHz. If will expect 11065MHz to appear at an IF of 1315 MHz and tune the receiver there.

Then there is symbol rate and FEC. Usually the receiver can work out the FEC but not the symbol rate. You need to program that. Some repeaters, e.g. GB3UD use very strange rates like 4167 ks. You need to look up what it is sending and program the RX accordingly.


A better solution all round is to build one of the BATC receiver projects, which have support, e.g. the Ryde.
