Re: sat finder 6906
??
We all have a life next to our hobby, so be more patient.
Sat finders are for commercial TV sat normally. They are not usable for Ham TV Sat.
We transmit in narrow band tv modes by default. Eg 500KS and smaller.
Most sat finders will not lock on these small signals and therefore unusable...
Good luck and become a BATC member to buy a Ham TV receiver from the shop..

Re: sat finder 6906
but same people have said that they have got atv on them
Re: sat finder 6906
Yes but if you read the specs on the sat finder you will see it probably only goes down to 1.5Ms symbol rate.
So it would be able to receive DATV signals above that rate but there are not many these days as, apart from a few repeater outputs, we all use much narrower bandwidths such as 330ks.

Re: sat finder 6906
I don't have a 6906 but I do have a GTMedia V8 Finder which is able to decode down to 1MS I believe. It certainly works on the QO100 beacon. Have a look at this video by Justin, G8YTZ, who shows how to set it up...

Re: sat finder 6906
I don't have one either, though I have a similar DVB-T / DVB-S satfinder. It will receive signals down to 1Ms/s including the QO100 beacon and GB3UD repeater but it is incredibly difficult to set up unless you are an expert. By the time you have bought such a device and been disappointed and frustrated, you are a good way along towards the cost of a receiver designed for the job.

The 6906 will work down to 1ms/s, but it is DVB-S and mpeg2 only. It also emits a nasty sprog on exactly 144.750MHz. The later v8 types also go down to 1ms/s but also cover DVB-S2 and H264 and will decode the QO100 beacon on 1.5ms/s very well.
