Hello everyone,

Got my HDMI audio extractors and inserter today from Amazon. Except for a bad mini-plug audio in jack on the inserter everything went swimmingly.

The HDMI extractors pass audio through the HDMI path along with extracting the audio out. The HDMI inserter has a switch on the front that turned out to the a surprise, in the HDMI position it passes HDMI audio, but in the L/R mode, it blocks the HDMI audio and only uses the audio from the line input.

So with the addition of a four channel mixer with RCA jacks, I now have quad capability with individually adjustable volume levels. The mixer has a convenient line out jack on the front to allow the stream audio to be sent to the UHF voice repeater transmit side. The incoming receive audio from the UHF voice repeater goes into one of the mixer ports. The UHF voice repeater has CTCSS squelch on it so that's not an issue and if we don't want to hear from them on the ATV side, couple of DTMF controlled relays disconnect the system PTT line from the voice repeater and drops the receive and transmit audio paths from the ATV audio stream. Gotta love hardware.

So simple of a solution to something that has beat me up for so long. And all with hardware, no computer required.

Here are links to the mixer, extractor and inserter I used from Amazon.

Thanks again to everyone who replied with a suggestion on how to get around an HDMI limitation. It was a group effort and hopefully will help someone in the future who is going to run into the same problem.
