Is a wide band web SDR with public access to video possible?

Post by Basil » Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:43 am

I was just musing as to why no wide band web SDR for the es hail satellite seemed to exist, where the public can watch the video and hear the audio, is such a thing technically possible? Thanks.

There have been a few trials but in my view it is not a good idea as it discourages people from building their own receivers and could be open to abuse.

The big technical problem was managing the data flow thru the internet. Each stream is 2 till 4 MBit and is you have a few vieuwers this adds up quickly to be banned from your provider...

And yes adding internet stream makes viewing easy but also you create more intress and thus more builders of there own equip.
This is my experience on the local terrestial repeater.
Adding a internet stream blew up the group by 1000% and still growing..
I cannot get the minitiouners in time to support all the requests..

Thanks for the replies, I am able to both sides of the argument, technical issues aside.
