Filter housing advice please...

Post by radiogareth » Mon Mar 08, 2021 2:07 pm

I have a nice high power multi-section filter for use on 50 & 70 MHz. As I will (eventually) have various different amplifiers for the bands I'm thinking of building it into its own box.

But how much clearance should I have between inductors and the box lid/walls?

The planned box has 25mm internal height and the top of the filter coils are 19mm above deck giving 6mm clearance from the lid.

Will 6mm clearance be sufficient or not? Is there some 'rule of thumb' relating to wavelength etc that I should apply?

Thanks

Gareth
