ATV Network Day.
The aim of this activity day is to provide high power ATV signals from a number of high sites in UK.
This is joint event with the UK microwave Group who will be running a 5.7GHz cumulative contest and we anticipate that several sites will have 5.7Ghz narrow band and an ATV group on the same site.
We plan to link the sites such that a relay of the ATV signal will be possible to create a Network of stations.

We have offers from 4 sites at present:-
Winter Hill,
North Yorkshire Moors
ZME group West midlands.
Merryton Low with G3PHO /G3PYB.

We would like to have more stations on high sites as single stations or as a combined ATV and UK microwave stations. It should be possible to link into the 4 stations listed from the London and Thames Valley area, West of UK into the Midlands, N Wales and the Midlands into Winter Hill, and North and East of England into North Yorkshire Moors.
Some of the stations will have Digital ATV on 23cm and 70cm and this will be a rare opportunity to work a station running Digital Transmission. Dish gains on 3cm can provide ERP in the KW ranges and this will again be an opportunity to work a 3cm ATV station.

The 70cm DATV signal have the potential for considerable distances, the satellite receiver for Free to Air QPSK signal are very low cost and easy to obtain. For 70cm you will need an up-converter into L band please look at the very low cost SUP-2400 Direct Tv units to be found on E Bay .
The modification sheet can be found on M0DTS excellent web site.

If you can join the Network ATV event please let me know via the forum, and I will send out a list of stations and sites. Details of equipment to be used would at each site would be helpful together with the anticipated ERP on each band.

To assist with set-up of DATV /FM receivers there will be equipment at the Finningley ARS Microwave Round table on the 10/11July for 70,23,3 cms in addition to other microwave narrow band equipment.
See the Finningley ARS WEB site for activities registration, and directions.

Hope to see and hear you on the 22August ….G3PYB

I will drag out the DATV receiver for Finningley. We never got it to work when we tried with Rob DTS on the last contest
so it would be good to see if it works..
I dont think there any microwave people active in the Grimsby area (still building mine) but if anybody is going to
a lincolnshire hilltop then the Grimsby crowd may be able to drag a pile of TV kit and try link back to GB3GG or another repeater.

Cheers
