I've been taking MiniTioune screen captures by doing CTRL_PRTSC, pasting into Paint and saving, which is a bit cumbersome. MiniTioune has the photo button to capture the video box, but not the signal meters.

PicPick is a screen capture utility which is free for personal use. It can be set up to capture the whole screen or just the active window with a key combination, without any further intervention. Avoid CTRL-A, which MiniTioune uses.
