I have just downloaded the latest bandplan from RSGB 2016/17 and I noticed that ATV seems to still be allowed.
I was told that we had lost 13cms ATV (Analogue) can someone clarify the situation.
Please note I am on about Wideband analogue TV not narrow digital.
I look forward to enlightened replies
Cheers Mark :?

Hi Mark,

No - we never lost "13cms ATV" as your license does not stipulate what modes you can run.

What happened was that the MoD, who are (were ) the Primary User of spectrum handed back 2350 - 2390 Mhz as part of PSSR - see http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=3176 for all the details.

What this means is the 13cms band now has a big hole in it and is as follows:

2310 > 2350 and then 2390 > 2450 MHz so there is plenty of room to do ATV and DATV, just be mindful of other users such as the Narrow Band section 2320 and the primary user who still uses 2310 > 2350. See https://thersgb.org/services/bandplans/ ... n_2017.htm

Also remember that you MUST register with Ofcom if you intend to use 2310 > 2350 - https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/ ... tement.pdf

Hi Mark,

Look at the license schedule here https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/ ... -terms.pdf

You have to comply with this. It shows an allocation from 2310-2350 MHz and 2390-2450MHz. We have only lost the middle 40MHz, so far.

The RSGB band plan is here https://thersgb.org/services/bandplans/ ... n_2017.pdf you ought to but don't have to comply with this. It advises: 2,322.000-2,350.000 Wideband Modes, including data, ATV

So you can use that segment, but you need to keep within it .

Hi Noel
excellent thanks for that so basically if we use between 2391 to 2450 we dont have to inform ofcomm etc
Thanks for verifying there are 3 of us who are digging out 13cms gear out of mothballs! :D

Thanks again 73 Mark

Hi Mark,

That would seem to be the case, however please try to keep away from the satellite segment around 2400 - 2410 MHz. Es Hail Sat is likely to be there next year and you might have much greater coverage than you expected!

Narrowband Linear transponder
2400.050 - 2400.300 MHz Uplink
10489.550 - 10489.800 MHz Downlink

Wideband digital transponder
2401.500 - 2409.500 MHz Uplink
10491.000 - 10499.000 MHz Downlink

The RSGB plan notes two ATV repeater outputs 2435 and 2440 MHz where there may be activity.

ah right ok Mike in that case If I opt for 2330 that would be better.
I still have a G3WDG040_2 which I did rx AO40 on 13cms until it crashed
So will this new bird support Analogue ATV then?
Anyway will try to stay out of everyones way with my 1W Transciever
Cheers Mark
