its cheap and easy they said ……………………. uh huh ……………. latest snag on the build - got a small TFT screen - and lo its one of those that does not display unless its presented with a decent signal level - the rx being an RC832 ……………………

soo what to do ?? - buy a dvr and put in line ?? - more cost and a fair wait for it to come from china - or quicker from italy - but wow the postage is steep - or build some sort of video amp ?? - again fine but my eyesight is not up to much so it would have to be descrete components and on vero board - ............ looks for design ............ er ........................ help !!

and the joke is after all the expence and faffing around its not like i have anyone to talk TO - and before you say jump in your car and go up to a high spot - 1 - no car - 2 lugging the kit around on the back of a mobility scooter might just get plod asking a few questions - 3 it would take a few days to get anywhere worth going to ................

cheap and easy they said ............................

Hi - to be fair the problem with modern "blue" screens has been well advertised and is prominent on the wiki page - https://wiki.batc.org.uk/5.6_GHz along with various solutions to get round it inlcuding using a USB receiver in to a PC or mobile phone which is mentioned on an earlier post on this forum.

And maybe the best way to get people to work is to encourage a couple of locals or the loacal radio club to get involved as happened at the Barrow in Furness club who made it a club project to get everyone involved.

thanks - i'll have a look at that squelch smurf thingy - as to clubs - you jest of course ?? - clubs around here are insular - and not interested in anything that a: takes effort - b: is above HF - c: has to do anything for anyone - disabled non drivers in particular - in fact, the chairperson of one - who I go out kite antenna flying with - has just resigned because he thinks so too - so if you have good inclusive clubs in your area or others into ATV - then consider yourself very lucky !!

I do not - so i have to sort any problems I encounter on my own - hence the sometimes dumb questions ........ :?

Currently at Reigate Hill IO91VG with good takeoff towards the south coast. Anyone on 5.6 ATV fancy a try? Here until about 7 pm today Friday 2nd Aug.

Me too :-) Are aerials cheaper than 5.8 GHz coax relays??

Are those the Gibbon flat plate aerials with around 21dBd gain. I have just acquired a pair after deciding against the single mesh with change over relay.
Hope to try out from Duncton Hill soon near Petworth, quite good take off to the north.

what ho - well FINALLY found someone interested in this - here in Plymouth - so building of systems is ongoing - flat panel ants - 6oo mw or more once it comes and a large 30dbi gain ( claimed ) dish - so is there anyone up along the south cost /IOW that would fancy some tests next year once the weather gets better ?? found this handy path tool for wifi https://link.ui.com/# - and from the START POINT area there appear to be quite a few workable paths

obviously this would need jacking up before hand - as I have to rely on my friend for transport - and that depends on his work /family sheduals - my health etc etc - you know how it is if you plan stuff - murphy always chucks a spanner in !! :? :?

if you might be interested - please let me know

Are there any recommended LNA designs for 6cm use?

Found one on https://arxiv.org, it gives a PCB design, but a bit vague on component values.

Hi

G4DDK decribed a modification to one of the Franco boards to build a 5.7 GHz preamp in July 2014 RadCom. I have yet to build it though....
