You’re making good progress. The picture quality is surprisingly good. The frequency we use is 5665. The TX I have is the 1W output one, which has a little fan in it and runs cool. Some of the earlier 300/600mW ones got quite hot. The sma connectors are these horrible reverse polarity types, but you can get an adapter on ebay.

Glued the small cheaper camera to a 3 x AA battery pack...
Has it's own off on switch, eBay item number : 112764117513
Normally use a Tarot for testing, but this is so simple, no need for regulator as only 4.5v.
Only short transmissions as still gets warm, glue softens as for battery life, this is the first set fitted.

why in gods name did they go for such a plug /socket - whats wrong with standard SMA ???

I believe the RP connectors were developed for modem/routers to stop people adding high gain aerials to them to extend their range. G6URM - would you mind telling us your name, it makes things a bit friendlier here.

Re: ATV on 6cms - It's Cheap and Easy on 5665MHz
If anyone is interested, I have a couple of 5.7GHz flat panel antennas (new, but unboxed and might be a bit dusty) which have the same performance figures as the TP-Link outdoor wifi antennas - they (unlike some others) are specced to operate across the 6cm amateur band at about 23dBi gain.
If I can lay my hands on them before weekend, I'll probably take them up to Norbreck - If anyone is going, and is interested in them, come and seek me out on the Bolton Wireless Club stand

https://www.wifi-shop24.com/GOLD-Wirele ... door-30dBi - just ordered one of these - which should give me some reasonable gain figures to play with ** - so I guess i'm going down the single antenna - relay route with this project - any advice on what relays to look out for please gents ? - and what to avoid ...................
** using this calculator - http://www.csgnetwork.com/antennaecalc.html - ok this is "best case " of course
now type in 400 w and see what you get ............................ go on you know you want to ( drone death ray time .lmro )

Brett,
If you look at my post 21 December, page 5 of this thread, you can see the relay that most people use. These are specified to 26GHz and are commonly seen at rallies for £15-25. The new cost is silly money. The cable used is 0.141 inch diameter semi-rigid microwave cable, RG402 I think from memory. The relays are often 28V operated, but there is a simple circuit that allows them to work on 12V. See the BATC wiki page.
