DATV from Spain via sporadic E

Post by G4HTZ » Wed May 10, 2017 12:24 pm

I am moving to Spain EA5 south of Alicante in September.....got me thinking about the possibility of DATV on 50mhz ...not sure how many people if any have DATV 50mhz capability.

I was thinking of aquring a 2m to 6m transverter and driving it with the portsdown tx ....I'm guessing this would work ? To a 4 ele yagi

I'm guessing this should work and give the chance of working sporadic E back to uk ...or perhaps even meteor scatter

Used to regularly RX Spanish tv on band 1 in years gone by .

Be interested if anyone has any thoughts on the above

Hi Steve

Yes I can do DATV on 50 MHz. My antenna is down at the moment but I will soon be putting it up again.
Keep me updated with you progress. Email: g8adm@gb3bh.com

I'm QRV now on 6m DATV, would be happy to try, best months are June-August for Es.
I also have a CW/Chirp beacon running when not operating on 6m, 50.434500MHz which may be useful for monitoring conditions.

Thanks Dave and rob
Obviously will be something to try summer 2018 as I don't move there until September 17.
Good to know there's some potential activity on 6m
Cheers
