Hi

I have a DG0VE 70cm 60W PA that I'm using with my DTX1.
I have the optional preamp fitted.

To get better than -40dB shoulders I have to reduce the drive so I get 6W O/P.
To get better than -30dB I get about 16W O/P.

Is this to be expected or can I improve it by adjusting the bias in the PA?

Sounds pretty standard - try it and see perhaps?

On 2m I get about -45-to -50 dB from a 70W device at 6W output with 2.5A bias and got -45dB at 25W from a 500W device. See https://flic.kr/p/Bws8Ny

My 70cms PA is just a RA module with a lot of bias and its similar https://flic.kr/p/Bws8Ny
